So hearts broke tonight as seventeen seniors ended their school (orchestra) career with the third and last performance of this year's show. Everyone was moved and all the kids played their hearts out. I was Front of House again, which is tiring and frustrating - dealing with 500+ parents, students, alumni, and other visitors - the theatre was completely full, as expected. A few photos taken back stage and from the lighting booth must suffice for the final performance of 2018. Although not the best photo I took, this image, taken near the end of the show, summates what the last three days have been about. My colleague and friend, Deniz, the conductor and mentor of this large group of High School musicians has, once again, done an amazing job and one more milestone in the events that constitute the finale of the academic year is now complete.
Must mention also, that prior to tonight's concert, I went to lunch at Midpoint followed by the cinema with Caitlin to see the latest Star Wars movie - 'Han Solo' (great stuff). The actor playing Han reminded me so much of one of my colleagues ... but that's another story.
Meanwhile in other news, today's blip is by way of advertising that Mono Monday in May with my chosen theme of "musical form" concludes on Monday, 28th May, with the key word, somewhat appropriately, "Finale". It is probably a bit of a challenge, but knowing how creative we Blippers are, I'm very much hoping that you'll join in, with your interpretation of 'the last part' to round off my month of hosting. At the end of the day, (!!) however, any b&w image can be shared for mono monday. It will be mm227 so please tag accordingly and spread the word. I will announce my last hearts in my journal on Wednesday. I do want to say that hosting Mono Monday has been very rewarding. I have widened my circle of Blippers, loved looking at the pics, and I think paid more attention to my own photography this month. If anyone would also like to host MonoMonday please get in touch with Skeena. For the month of June, Laurie54 has kindly agreed to host the challenge. Let's all finish Mono Monday in May though, with a large tapestry of interpretations of "finale". Looking forward to it.
