Not Something You See Very Often

Well, once a year if you're a visitor to the famous Whit Friday Marches Brass Band Contests as we were. Around 70+ bands, some taking it very seriously and others not(!) wend themselves around the Tameside and Saddleworth districts of Oldham and Greater Manchester to some 20 villages hosting their March contest. I'd say that our band is about half way along the seriousness scale.

Despite the extremely inclement weather at times we played at 8 villages, had a great time and caught up with many friends from other bands. 

Having finished the semi-serious bit at midnight we went back to the hotel for a few beverages getting minimal sleep in the early hours before heading back home to Bristol. 

I'm so glad that it's a bank holiday weekend!
