Lisbon Waterfront
Our one full day in Lisbon - we will have to come back, there is too much to see and do.
We travelled on the No' 714 bus to Belem this morning - lots of museums, galleries and monuments. This was the place that Vasco de Gama set off from, commissioned by the King (Henry the Navigator), and initiating the voyages of discovery and Europe's age of world empires.
And queues for everything. The extra shows on such queue, outside the Torre de Belém. We decided to focus on walking around and taking things in. Although we had a very good lunch at the Berardo Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, and then a look around (no queues for all the modern stuff - which was very good).
After a visit to the Tropical Gardens (another place in need of some investment) we caught the No' 15 tram back into town, and explored the waterfront there. A could of big cruise liners were leaving - the main blip is of a young girl relaxing by the Tagus, with the "Disney Magic" en route to its next destination.
