A new species of butterfly

Having strimmed away a lot of weeds, I left a few stands of these blue flowers as the butterflies like them and it has concentrated the aforementioned butterflies magnificently.
I'd never really looked at the Black-veined Whites carefully before, dismissing them as large white things. In fact, they are stunning in a subtle sort of way.
Allegedly one of Churchill's favourite butterflies and one he tried to reintroduce to his gardens at Chartwell after they had mysteriously become extinct in Britain in the 1920s.
It is thought that climate change has made conditions right for them to breed in Britain again and more scientific reintroductions are being investigated. Churchill tried without success with another of his favourites, Swallowtails,  and these have started recolonising the south of Britain naturally from France in recent years. Hope yet then for the Black-veined White soaring over British meadows.
