Current House

Turning over this house at the moment. It was rebuilt about 3-4 years ago by a couple of contractors, who I have long since started to hate. Lots of little annoying things. Like no one sank the nails in the door moldings (I'm big into that now), and the back of the front door is painted red(??) - why is the back of the door painted - you only paint the front of the door, why does the house have a squat fat water heater when it should have had a tall skinny one that takes up a lot less space, and WHY oh WHY isn't the aircon drain pipe connected to anything, and why is the roof fan disconnected, why isn't the bathroom painted all the way round???

Lots of annoying small things that make up long lists.

The list is getting shorter. Slowly.

The problem with this house was when we first got started renting out these properties. We were very much being guided by professionals, but since we've started renovating ourselves, we realise how much of this guidance was crap.

But having said all that, it's nice to work on this property, and it's nice to put our touches to it - like getting rid of the horrible green carpet - and putting our colors on the wall rather than the contractor special. It'll be nice having this out on rent again by the end of next week.
