My Mum's RAF Wings Broach

Today is my Father’s birthday and he would have been 102.

I was looking for a blip to mark the day and tried to photograph a framed collage of three photos of him – two portraits and a group of pilots sitting in front of a Spitfire, together with his wings and the emblems of the two squadrons he flew with – 610 and 222.  Failed miserably as the glass was reflecting everything in front – me, my camera and the room.

Shelley then suggested this, which was a broach that my Father bought my Mother from Mappin and Webb – more wings.  She was in the WAAF and they met when his squadron commander asked him to accompany a friend of his wife’s to their wedding.  He was Johnnie Johnson.

So a bit of family history.
