You are forgiven because it is a truly impressive mimic. A hoverfly pretending to be a bee in order to assume protection.

How do I know?
. Bees have long thick antennae
. Bees have eyes about half this size
. Bees have two pairs of wings
etc.

I am fairly certain this is a male Cheilosia illustrata
