Nothing happens here...

Get yer top off...

These beauties will have done just that and their imbibers no doubt enjoyed every mouthful.

With the interest lately in yesterdays rubbish I've Blipped half a dozen beer bottle tops that I dug up or beachcombed way back in the 1980s.  MrsDB and I spent many a happy hour in the bottom of a hole in some isolated place, often a farm tip or a disused Victorian railway line where City waste had been part of the ballast.  Sometimes we were digging out 100 year old council closet and ash pits.  Little wonder that one time MrsDB came out in the most awful rash!  You didn't find much glass in these early tips because of the value of glass bottles which were kept for refilling.  I did once find a beautiful violet ink bottle, rare and fragile.  I threw it up out of the pit for MrsDB to catch and she dropped it.  They were worth about £5- £10 in 1981.  On another occasion I found a small intricately transfer decorated olive oil bottle and I treasured it but it didn't like being out of the ground and the transfer eventually fell away as dust.  I prefer not to think about why that was found in a shovel of 100 year old sh muck.
