Professor Lalage Bown

I had the privilege of spending 24 hours in the company of this amazing lady. She worked in various African countries for 30 years returning to the UK and the esteemed institution. She was the first female professor in the Commonwealth, the first female professor in adult education in the UK. She attended Oxford at the same time as Margaret Thatcher- Margaret was chair of the Conservative group and Lalage was chair of the Socialist group- there were many lively discussions! For me, one of the many things I admire about her is her compassion of and care for people. If I live to be 90! I hope I have her attitude to life. A truly inspirational lady!
