A little piece of local history

I dragged Annie up the slippery, muddy slope to Kenley Aerodrome this afternoon.

Poor John has caught a cold and was forced to stay at home with Pete and shout at the football matches on the TV!    John and Annie had planned to go up to London today and do a "Jack The Ripper" walk and meet up with another of our cousins..... that all had to be cancelled due to John feeling a bit poorly (he hasn't lost his voice!)

It was lovely and bright and cold up the aerodrome, the gliders were up and it was all very refreshing.

I took lots of shots but decided on this one of Annie reading one of the information boards about the history of Kenley Aerodrome.   It is appropriate as Annie's Grandfather, my Uncle John, was an RAF pilot during WWII.      Uncle John flew Lancaster Bombers and he won the DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross) in 1944.    He was one of "The Few" that survived the war.   He died in 1978 and tomorrow we are taking Annie and John to his grave in Dorking.

I am doing that bad thing... blipping whilst cooking!

I will catch up with comments on all your lovely blips eventually...  aoplogies to you all for my delayed reactions.
