Finally!

After year, she can now eat corn on the cob again! The journey of her losing her front teeth has been quite frustrating for Katie and has been well over a year. But a year ago she had a gap and a very wobbly tooth next to it, which persisted for six months. Then for another four months she had no front teeth at all. Finally a tooth cut about February, in the gap she’s had since being 5, and eventually, 7 months after falling out her other tooth cut a few weeks ago. It’s now big enough to use to eat with! This may seem a very small matter, but as a clarinetist it’s been quite a traumatic and painful year. We are seeing the dentist this week in the hope of getting a protective guard to prevent damage to her teeth as they come through and set and to ease the pain & pressure on them. She’s then got some technique changes to work on, where she’s had to form bad habits to manage to keep playing.

YYM today, with one of their informal concerts at the end. Katie did a clarinet duet that was lovely and performed a piano piece that she played the most wonderful I’ve heard her play it. She’s probably using it as the second of her audition pieces in two weeks time.
