A man was walking up the hill at a pace that matched mine. Slow. He had a good reason, a metal plate in this leg. The colder weather means he can feel it more. His car had been rear-ended by a driver talking on their 'phone. His story poured out of him, induced epilepsy, falls, ongoing operations, nine so far. He told me his wife now wants a divorce as she can't take any more. His words were 'but you've got to keep going haven't you?'.

On a lighter note we also met a dog called Richard.
