Secret life of roses

Susan tells me this shot shows the life cycle of a rose flower, from bud to new flower which is darker in colour, fading to pale at the flower matures.

This beautiful flower was determinedly blooming seemingly uncared for at the end of someone’s driveway shaded by a huge Leylandii behind. What is does have in its favour is that it faces south, getting sun most of the day.

Today’s blip was only a few hundred yards from our house, just showing that interesting shots are often under your nose.

Our morning walk continued on to Tesco’s where we were caught up in a fire alarm which turned out to be a false alarm meaning we had to evacuate the store, leaving all the shopping behind. It only took 10 minutes or so before we were allowed back in.

We had friends Bob and Sue over for dinner tonight, which meant the afternoon was occupied with making Shepherd’s Pie, interspersed with other little jobs like the weekly online shopping and bits for work.

There was time for me to have a strum on the uke before they came. We were able to sit out in the garden before dinner. A very pleasant evening all around with great company.
