BLACKBIRD (Turdus merula)

The BLACKBIRD ( sometimes referred to as a Merle ) is a hopper not a runner and can be seen frequently throughout NZ as it was introduced in about the 1860's. This one is a frequent visitor to our Earthquake Cats feeding bowl. We have this cat who we named 'Robin' seen stealing our Burmese cats food.  We werent sure if he was a boy or girl when he first arrived. hence Robin..  We have been feeding him for about 6 years now but have never been able to bring him to hand.  He now comes inside out of the rain through the catdoor and sleeps in the warm but disappears in the day.  He frequently appears at the back door for food and so does
 " Blackie " for the crumbs left from Robins cat-nuts.
