wheels of industry

We finally managed to visit the Summerlee Industrial Museum in Coatbridge. We had a fantastic day out. Loved the tram rides and seeing the miners' cottages from 1840 to 1980. The boys loved the sweetie shop. It was also interesting to see how they mined coal in a drift mine. My favourite though, was seeing all the rusty machinery throughout the site. Really impressive stuff. It wasn't all industry though - we found a swan on its nest with its freshly hatched cygnets (see extra). 

We will definitely visit again.
