Batteries and how not to keep them...

So I'd long been looking forward to a decent ride out with one of the larger bike groups around these parts; over to Wales and up through Ross on Wye, Leominster and Hay on Wye with perhaps sixty or so other bikes. Got everything ready early this morning (quietly as I didn't want to disturb Janet...) so it wasn't until I put the key in and got nothing more than a click that I realised.

I'd gone away for three weeks without leaving Morrigan on the battery tender. The five year old battery clearly didn't think much of that. A couple of hours on the charger and she was fine again (and perhaps a new battery next year), but of course it was too late to join the ride.

This afternoon, Steve and I took the bikes out to Kemble, a round trip of about 78 miles, stopping at AV8 at the Cotswold Airfield. We watched the microlight in the picture come in to land and later the pilots came over for a chat, doing their best to persuade us that we needed a motorbike with wings. Not entirely unconvinced...
