Sousa Nook

We are lucky enough to be staying in this quirky wonderful cottage in LA for a few nights. Our daughter-in-law, a versatile artist, has been restoring the murals in the main house on the property and the owners have graciously welcomed us into their home. T is an actor and a leather craftsman, and his wife H is a talented metalworker whose forge is housed in a teepee near the cottage. It is their home, their workplace, their showplace, their passion. You could be here for days and never see all the wonderful things hidden here and there: sculpture, found art, signs, figures, artifacts of all kinds. Sousa Nook, built in 1928, is indeed named for John Phillip Sousa, a close friend of the original owners. You can read the history of the property here:

Sorry about that awkward link, but the IPad won’t let me imbed it; I’ll fix it when we get home. The story of the place is fascinating, and I am honored to be staying here. The Extra is the main house.
