Magic Binoculars

Bubsy woke up ready for an adventure.  He'd had a magical dream about a pair of binoculars he'd made the day before with Mommy.  It was just two empty toilet paper rolls taped together.  They'd had fun making them and looking through them yesterday.  However, as he slept, Bubsy had an amazingly magical dream.  He now knew what the binoculars could really do.

He jumped out of bed, threw on his clothes, and grabbed the binoculars.  They still looked ordinary enough, but Bubsy knew better now.  He ran outside and looked through them at the flowers.  Bubsy saw the rhododendrons, but he could also see what they were feeling.  They were sad.  Bubsy ran over to them.

"What's wrong guys?" he asked.

We're feeling sad today," the Rhodies said.

"Why?" Bubsy asked with wonder.  Apparently these binoculars were magical on a very deep level because they not only allowed him to see inside flowers and trees and plants, but now he could talk to them too.

"We want to go on an adventure today, but we can't move" they said.

"Well I can help with that!" Bubsy exclaimed.

In one swift movement, Bubsy clipped the rhododendrons.  They barely even felt it.

"Where to?" he asked.

"The ocean!" the Rhodies replied.

And so they began their magical ocean adventure.  Bubsy took the Rhodies to his favorite spot, showing them how to build a sandcastle and chase after the waves.  Bubsy brought his magical binoculars with him too.  He found a tree out by the ocean who was laughing hysterically at some joke a cloud person had told.  He saw the sun beam down rays of love to the Earth. He saw the Earth send a swarm of butterflies as a 'thank you' to the sun for lighting up the sky.  He saw a group of ferns form a hug circle around a snail who was having a hard time.

Bubsy stayed there with the Rhodies all day, soaking up every magical thought and feeling that nature had to offer.  At the end of the day, as the sun put on his pajamas, Bubsy knew it was time to go home.  He said goodbye to his new friends and gathered the Rhodies to head home.  He grabbed his binoculars and looked at the flowers.  They were happy, only shedding a few tears out of pure joy.

"Was that ok?"  Bubsy asked.

"It was amazing!" the Rhodies replied.

Bubsy felt a warmth in his heart as he looked over his shoulder.  The sun had gone to bed and the moon was following them home.

"What's the plan for tomorrow?" the Rhodies asked.

"I don't know yet" Bubsy replied. "But I'm sure I'll figure it out in my dreams tonight."
