Bordeaux

Train tickets around France are 2 for the price of 1 during half term, so we went down to La Rochelle for the day. Highly cultured and classy French McLunch followed by some shopping, and in the afternoon we met up with 2 of Marmaduke's fellow assistants who were also staying there, went to a carnival (took this photo from the top of the ferris wheel) and then for a drink and dinner. The owner of the restaurant we picked was terrifying with tattoos everywhere including his face and the insides of his ears :\ thought it might just be an insane halloween costume at first, but nope...
Felt like spies on both train journeys, as Marmaduke had forgotten his 12-25 railcard and so we ran mission: inspection avoidance, including tactical seating allowing for optimum viewing of approaching ticket inspectors, and a foolproof plan of hiding in the toilets til they'd left.
