Into battle

The Soldier beetle, Cantharis rustica, taking to the air on my short walk near home today. It was wonderful finally getting out to test my recovering sprained ankle. I saw lots of butterflies and day-flying moths and my first dragonfly of the year, Broad-bodied chaser (see extra photo).
