The dropped stitch

Heart warming

As I drove past the field where this tractor was working I saw the driver leap out. I pulled up to watch, wondering what he was doing.

He gathered a handful of dry vegetation from the field on the unploughed side of his tractor, placed it on the newly worked ground and then going back to just in front of the machine, scooped something up, walking over and placing it out of harms way. I'm guessing it was oyster catchers' eggs or young chicks. There were several adult birds near where he was working.

He was too far off to hear me shout, but I really wanted to call out to him - thanks for taking the trouble to do that!
