Happy Birthday Church Day

Once upon a time when I was young in years there used to be something called WhitSunday which marked the annual Whitsun holidays in May. Well, that has been subsumed into the Spring Bank Holiday of the last weekend of May,

But WhitSunday endures in the Church otherwise known as Pentecost, the day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the followers of Jesus ten days after his ascension into Heaven.

Children at St Botolph's Church in Shepshed have been drawing birthday cards for the occasion which have been lined up on the altar ready for tomorrow. The church marks Pentecost as the day when the Christian Church came formally into being.

I didn't walk to church coffee morning because we had to be back at the house to meet Harry who came to service the pond. He says it's in good nick but I need to buy some barley straw extract to cleanse it of its green colour. And get some more ferns and hostas which he will plant for us. Time to go and see Colin methinks.

As luck would have it, I turned on the TV just in time to watch the grand procession of Harry and Meghan in a landau through the streets of Windsor and up the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park. I'm very impressed by Meghan.

And now it's the FA Cup. We should have the opportunity to watch the first half before leaving for Leicester to pick up William from his parents who are spending the afternoon at a party.
