2018 Thursday — Tandem

With our two TuffSheds emptied and moved to the new property, Mr. Fun is having a difficult time leaving our tandem bicycle outside and locked to the patio post. So guess where he parked it! He is having an even tougher time thinking about selling the tandem as we downsize. So the bets are being placed as to whether he pumps the tires and rides it solo the mile and a half to our future residence.

The tandem is our bicycle that we rode for a minimum of 10,000 miles. It was the recreational vehicle that helped us keep our sanity during the years our kids were teenagers, and then beyond.

Twice we have pedaled it from San Francisco to home in southern California and once we boxed the bike and put it on the train all the way to Eugene, Oregon, and then pedaled to the city of Florence on the coast to meet-up with a group of bicyclists and all of us spent two weeks pedaling to San Francisco. Those adventures were challenging and thrilling. The majority of the miles were tallied every Saturday morning when we’d rolled right from our front door to pedal 38.5 miles to the Pacific Ocean in Huntington Beach and then pedalled back home.

All of that was a lot of work and a lot of fun.
