How did that snail get there?

Walking up the road from the bus stop I stopped beside June's garden to check on the peony roses that yesterday were just bursting into bloom. 

There was no snail yesterday but there was one today. It would be some climb up the stalk and then on to the petals .... time lapse photography would have made interesting viewing.
