Poetry reading

The 29th Street Writers of Portland celebrated their 36th year together by offering a reading. Seven old women read for us: some with canes, some with walkers, one hairless from chemotherapy, still crafting words that powerfully, beautifully, tell us what they see, so that we can also see it. What I saw at the reading was the beauty of their efforts, the persistence of our efforts to say what we see, so that others can see it; and light falling across Sue's face. Poetry to my eyes.
