A Remembrance Day event

We learned this morning that our hotel is adjacent to the site of the first landings of German paratroopers in the Battle of Crete 1941. The anniversary was marked with a short ceremony and the laying of wreaths. Apparently, until very recently, survivors of the battle who live in the UK ( and maybe other countries) used to attend the ceremony but I guess few are now still alive.
The weather was suitably dull
