The Abhainn Shalachain

The Abhainn Shalachain. This beautiful hill burn is hemmed in by partially harvested commercial woodland. As a result it is incredibly difficult to get to. You must step over horrid brash, upended tree stumps and slippy ruts. Our entire survey site was composed of such underfoot conditions today. It isn't a case of if you trip, more just when. Try and put these words sensibly in to a method statement or risk assessment.
We have been here before so I knew what to expect. Climb out of this little gorge and look down the hillside and you are rewarded with lovely views over the sparkling sound of Mull amd the big mountains there (on Mull) had snow well down.
On one of my many slips today I seem to have jarred myself because on stepping out of the car on arrival home my right upper leg has real stiffness to it and a bit of an ache. It actually made me swear.

Anyway, a glass of Friday night wine later might help it.

Have a good weekend!
