Moscow
We had a major day out My feet were killing me, as we walked miles. We used our 3 day metro pass to go to a huge park about the size of our town, as Mr C was keen to see the space centre, and where we should have seen exhibitions in buildings dedicated to every soviet state. But it everything on the site was getting renovated - all at once. There were workmen busy on every building, Plus new roads, trolley bus place, monorail etc.were being built. It was one giant construction site. We were able to walk around a cordoned off road to see the edifices and we kept going in the hope something would be open. But no.
Then we decided to go back into town to try to find St Basils. This was complicated as we could not get into red square which is closed for security. The big event commemorating the end of WW2 is on Wednesday and I assume it is shut in case anyone plants a bomb. We eventually got round side streets behind GUM, which is now full of designer shops, to the river and walked along it till we got to the bridge, where we could get up as far as the bottom of the cathedral. Mr C took this picture. We could not get in to the church or to pay respects to Lenin.
Then it was the Cold War bunker, (not worth the rounles, Ukrainian food, and a walk to see the lights. Bed 12 and we’d been out since 10.
