Howth Head
Had what is as close to a normal family outing as we will get for the next few months.
All the kids were dressed and lined up and escorted to the car and did not complain as they were strapped to their respective car seat (Finn even managed not to puke!)
There were no tears or bickering during the 1/2 hour drive to Howth summit.
I even managed a normal adult conversation with Mrs Raheny (something to do with Ikea opening in Dublin and I hastily switched off).
I had remembered to pack a few bananas and chocolate croissants and a flask of tea.
As we drove up towards the summit, I noticed that the light was getting more dramatic by the second.
We arrived there and the light was perfect.
We unstrapped all the kids, put on all their wellies, managed not to walk in the first few dozens of dog shits (weren't as lucky after that...).
And then the freezing wind cut us in half.
Mimi started crying that she was cold. Luca started crying that he was cold.
Mrs Raheny started crying that Finn was going to get cold.
I'm a hardy fellow and I did not cry (it was very hard to keep the tears in though). I took three shots of the light house and none of my fingers fell off (but it was close). And we took the freezing crying kids back into the car, took off their respective winter coats, and strapped them back to their respective seats.
And we went to the Dinosaurs' Forest instead, because it is a lot less exposed.
