What? No plane?!

Took all the children down to the local field today (after two SATS papers and a very rushed early lunch) to watch the Lancaster Bomber fly over. We knew that due to high winds the Lancaster had been swapped for a Typhoon (I found the link quite amusing) but still went.

The kids were excited, running up and down the playing field like spitfires. The village turned out....the preschool turned out. A text message was received that it was flying round the dam. Whilst excitedly waiting with baited breath we found this strange creature in the grass (blip). On it’s flight path to Chatsworth it would be going right over our heads!

We waited......and waited....it started to get really cold....we waited some more......preschool gave up and went to get their dinner......we waited.....some of the older members of the village retired inside out of the cold......we waited.....

My question to the powers that be would be...surely when they decided to use the Typhoon they should have realised that it couldn’t fly in low cloud and therefore they would have to change the route so it just flew round the dam then went home again. Could they not have told everyone waiting along it’s original flight path that in the morning? What a damp squib!
