Fonserannes Locks and Bezier

Such a sunny day after the challenging weather of the previous days. We drove out to Beziers, first stopping at the Fonserranes Locks, a set of nine locks raising the Canal water more than twenty metres over three hundred metres - quite a rise!

All electrical now, so perhaps not as amazing as the Caen Hill Locks is England, manual and a 72m rise over 3.2km. Even so, the skill with which the captains of the huge pleasure cruisers guided their charges through lock gates only three inches wider than they were...

And then into Beziers on a toy train, which took us to the cathedral and the gardens. By the time it was time to go home we were all walked out. Hot times. Very welcome.
