Swindale from the Naddle Horseshoe ridge

A linear U3A walk today incorporating part of the Naddle horseshoe, Selside and Branstree. Apart from the lovely view into the idyllic Swindale valley there wasn't much to recommend the walk. To all extents and purposes it was an uninspiring grassy, marshy, fly-infested trudge that started in Burnbanks and ended at Mardale Head. Mardale Head and Haweswater Water reservoir are lovely. Unfortunately the journey there left a lot to be desired. The person who chose the walk and did the recce was inexplicably absent leaving the rest of the group to cope with navigating the rarely visited and totally off-piste summits of Harper Hills and Hare Shaw by ourselves. We all arrived safely but it is not a walk I would be in a hurry to repeat.
