Seed Saving
9th May 2018:
These are pine seeds, collected from the forest.
Our tree guys have been collecting for the past few weeks now hoping to deliver a million seeds before the season ends in a few weeks.
When the acorns are collected we leave them in this greenhouse to dry and open.
Each acorn produces lots of tiny seeds and here Maggie is collecting them.
She will collect and weigh them to decide how many we have.
We are buying seeds wherever we can find them but the sadness comes from the fact that Malawi has cut down most of its forests and seeds become more rare by the day as the last remaining hectares disappear with little reward for the poorest.
