Roussillon

Today we went on a sketching trip to nearby Roussillion. The weather has been unexpectedly cold and wet. Yesterday, all day, torrential rain and today dry but both days 11degrees. A wee bit chilly for this part of the world. We ladies all bought scarves in a market on Monday and we are wearing lots of layers to keep warm. The men are braver!
Roussillion is home to the ochre quarries, shown in the extra, which were very active in past years. The landscape and rocks are tinged with a fabulous red colour and many of the village houses are painted in shades of yellow and red ochre.
