Potential Meal Below

This the damaged elderly praying mantis I rescued from the rain and moved to the comfort of the greenhouse three weeks ago. She is leaning over the leaf edge watching a fly. I’m surprised at how fat she has grown and wonder if she’s capable of laying more eggs. Just in case, I’ve added a male to the ladies’ retirement community.

I’m still finding fresh ootheca (egg cases). Now the total is 13. Not many, but there are probably more in places I can’t see.
