A shag not a puffin
A wee trip to Bamburgh has got to include a boat trip to The Farne Islands - and who am I not to be first on board!
Things learnt today :-
Puffins mate for life from the age of 5
They live to about 30
They have one ‘puffling’ a year
They return to the same nest every year
80,000 of them nest on the Farne islands
In May however - they are mostly underground in their burrows!!! (Note to self - visit puffins in June)
I know nothing about the Shag bird - other than they are quite striking/scary!
And oh the eider duck... my favourite duck - they are the heaviest but fastest duck and make their nest out of their feathers - well you would wouldn’t you! And oh I wish I could put a link to their fabulous call but my phone restricts me.
A huge thank you for all your kindness for my blossom blip - will catch up forethwith! Xxx
