Semiaquilegia
No trips out today, as I had to revise all my lectures for my three days of teaching in Leeds next week. Between stints at the computer I walked round the garden, photographing some of the many spring flowers that are now in bloom.
This little flower had me puzzled for a while. It was growing near one of our benches and neither Pete nor I have any recollection of planting it. After a bit of research I identified it as Semiaquilegia ecalcarata, possibly the cultivar 'Sugar Plum Fairy'. It's likely that it was a rescue plant - we often buy plants that have finished flowering and are being sold off cheap, which may be why I did not recognise the flowers. It's rather beautiful, so I hope that it manages to set seed and persist.
