Gondolas

We arrived in Venice this morning to high tide. Not the usual high tide but one 20 cm higher than the very high tide forecast so Venice flooded.

The water bus couldn't get through the Grand Canal so we had to get off a stop much further away and walk or wade as we had to at a couple of points. We finally arrived at the hotel with wet shoes and socks which we've dried off on the heated towel rail.

Thankfully the water is now receding and we manage to get to Saint Mark's Square this afternoon. It was just off the famous square that I took this blip.
