Sir Thomas Herbert’s House

I do love a knackered old Tudor building and this one doesn’t disappoint. Couldn’t resist taking a snap as I went by, maybe just to see what it looks like in years to come when I next visit York.

The shop part is looking a bit sorry for itself these days, having been taken over from what was a Jones Bootmaker until 2017, which is a shame. I did a small about of digging and learned that this was built around the mid 1550s and bought in 1557 for £54 10s 8d. Tried to look up what that would be worth today and failed...perhaps someone could enlighten me!
