Staying Close to Mom

"WE MUST TRY TO SURVIVE!
WE MUST TRY TO PREVAIL!
SO GATHER 'ROUND GOSLINGS!
STAY CLOSE TO MOM'S TAIL!"

In this cute butt shot of Mama Goose, only two of her goslings are shown. The other seven have just awakened, and have joined Dad to graze on some grass.

It looks idyllic, but there are a couple of problems. 1. Mom has a bad bum leg, and spends WAY too much time lying down. I don't think she can perform her half of the protection detail, but maybe her leg will get better.  2. One of the goslings has a terrible eye issue. I'd guess either an infection, or a mauling of some sort. Sad to see.

In the Extras, is a shot of the gang waking up.

I have to get my geese shots before they're gone. Our city council votes to capture them at our millpond, and have them relocated. They hire a local company called Goose-busters (who ya gonna call? GOOSE-BUSTERS!), who come in, and catch the birds. They do it at this time of year, because the goslings can't fly, and Dad and Mom will stick around  to defend their offspring.

I know the issue gets very personal, but I'm thinking about letting the air out of all of their truck tires. ;0)
