Goodbye Anegada

To be honest à long island with a high point of 6m and inaccessible scrub covering most of it didn't sound like my idea of fun.
BUT... Anegada really was a little slice of paradise. The reef was amazing, the people really really warm and friendly, and the island full of wonder. I don't think I've even mentioned the flamingos that live in the middle, but we stopped to look at their distant flash of colour each morning, never close enough for a blip. Watching the magnificent Frigate birds circle and soar was pretty special, and seeing a nurse shark just topped it off.
My overriding memory will be of the people though. Standoffish at first, but that soon disappeared and then you were family (an island saying). I can certainly imagine that everyone knowing everything about everyone could get wearisome, but they also had a tangible sense of community and looking out for one another.

We finished with 7 fully qualified new first aiders, each of them able to train other people to do CPR, that's quite a result.
Then it was a hop onto the fast ferry to transfer to Virgin Gorda. With calmer seas I was able to stand on the open top deck and enjoy the stunning view as the sun quickly dropped.
