Beginner's luck?

Oh, I was chuffed with my two pairs. 
I would be able, right after the second deal, to show him what a good hand is.
I repressed a little smile, when I saw him put down his pair of aces. Bless him, I was going to crush his little heart. 
And then he lined up his tens. All three of them. 

The question mark in today's title is not intended to doubt the fact that he is lucky. 
I am just wondering if he really is a beginner. 
I may have been the victim of a hustler...
