Kelvingrove Gallery

We had a typical spring day in Glasgow today...... wet, cold and windy...... you have to love Scotland, don't you!!!!

Had a trip to the Art Galleries, saw a lot I liked, but have fallen back to the old familiar things.  George Lawson's 'Motherless' done in 1889, father and child, very poignant.

And I have always liked John Lavery's 'Visit of Queen Victoria to Glasgow Exhibition' in 1880, partly because he has painted 253 people..... can you imagine how long that must have taken.....

Also enjoyed the Daily Organ Recital, today by Duncan Sinclair, including some of Strauss which I liked very much (Voices of Spring).  The Kelvingrove Organ was built in 1901 and is a product of excellent Victorian craftsmanship, still in its original condition and it is said to be one of the finest instruments in public ownership today.

Have gone on a bit, but thought a bit of background info might be useful.

And had to include the Heads!!!

Hope your day is good
