World Labyrinth Day

We made our way to Bandon on May 5, had some excellent fish & chips, dawdled around the harbor, not paying much attention to the time, and made it to the beach just in time to see the very special impermanent labyrinth created that morning and to meet Denny Dyke, the man of the hour. We had no idea it was World Labyrinth Day. We'd seen the OPB feature about him, but somehow it hadn't registered with us that he builds his labyrinths in Bandon. It was all just an amazing completely unexpected coincidence. That's Mr. Dyke in the main blip, and in the background behind him you can see Sue in her sun-hat, making a photo of me, making a photo of him.

Even without the labyrinth man, Bandon would make us gasp in wonder. It's like a nature-made Stonehenge. I couldn't get the whole labyrinth with my 35mm, not even from the cliff-top. Sue has a wide-angle camera, and even her camera couldn't take it all in. The third extra is my favorite lying-down photograph of Sue on this vacation, but the fourth is also a joy, as she took her place on the path.
