Newly Minted

I did my first Butterfly Survey at Longshaw today. In the nick of time too, as the weather broke later on this afternoon. I saw quite a few Small Whites, a Brimstone, a Peacock, a couple of Orange Tips and 5 of my favourite butterfly - the Green Hairstreak. This one is very fresh, judging by the crinkles in its wings. I was actually standing in for someone who couldn't make today, and my own first week is at the end of May. I'm hoping I will be as lucky with the weather!
