Seeking Hilarity
We decided to go explore a couple of the little villages and drove down to Saint Hilaire and Alex-des-Bains. This is the cloister in the abbey at St Hilary’s, named on Roman maps as Hilarius - which we found to be a great laugh.
Last-des-Bains had a lovely ruined Abbey surrounded by a highly decorated cemetery full of marble tombs and mausoleums. It being a holiday the whole village appeared to be playing pétanque.
Last night some bewinged bugger had quite a decent meal on me, which is playing blue murder with yesterday’s inadvertent sunburn. Curiously, the sunburn is only on the places where I liberally slapped factor 50. Go figure.
