Blast from the past.

I had a brief wonder around "Renewables UK" event at the SECC today. I have a passing interest in all thigs wind-power related (it was my post-grad subject many moons ago). Also had a great catch up with my old pal, Neil "The D-Man" Douglas, who is still changing the world, one turbine at a time. I think he is seriously jealous of my ability to command free lattes and have undesireables ejected from the venue - that's how I roll, Neily Boy!

This shot is a head-on view of the main rotor of a wind turbine - you can see the nacelle unit behind, which houses the gear box and generator. You can also see the three flanges, onto which the huge blades will be attached. (Looks a bit like a giant robot cat from this angle - or is that just me?).
