Sunday tradition bites the dust: Cup and Saucer in Kenton, our favorite Sunday breakfast spot closed today. We had a habit of eating breakfast there for, I don't know, at least five or six years. Not every Sundy, but many of them. We'd either ride our tandem bike the eight-mile round trip, or walk one way and bus it home. We'd been eager to resume the tradition now that walks would no longer be pee-stop driven.
We drove the car this morning, since Eric isn't walking very far yet, and parked a few blocks away.
We'd order the same pretty ordinary two-eggs-over-easy for him and a cornmeal pancake for her. Then we'd play Bananagrams as we waited and as we ate.
I'm so glad we showed up, had no idea the place was about to close, so we had a chance to say goodbye to our favorite waiter. But, there is good news, too, she'll be working at the Island Cafe on Hayden Island, the big, long island in the Columbia River. An easy enough drive, but also good for a longer bike ride, or - get this: you can canoe right up to the place! We've only done that once, but plan to again once we get our boat legs up and running again. Anyone want to join us?
