Met this lovely mermaid today at Ilkley Carnival and we were blessed with glorious sunshine, some years it’s been raining so hard the procession has nearly got washed away.

Perhaps we say it every year but this one was the best ever.
First parade l’ve seen without any of my granddaughters in but they were watching too with a lot of the people who had been at the wedding on Saturday.
The Glasgow contingent who came down for the weekend think Ilkley is marvellous : cycle race, wedding and now the carnival and parade and all in this Mediterranean climate
Think the high note came when one marching band played Scotland the Brave!

My daughter’s birthday today so will be popping round to see her after the crowds have left the town and everything is back to normal.
