Early morning in the garden.
I am loving this spell of summer-like weather. I was in the garden at 6.30 am having got up to feed our old cat Tiger, who was waiting on the lawn . He tends to sleep outside in the warmer weather, although he has a dog kennel with cushions in situe inside our garage, which has a cat flap.
Pampered moggy(!) now "16 going on 17", as the song goes, if you have ever seen "The Sound of Music."
At this time of year it is becoming light by 4.40 am and not truly dark until sometime after 9.30 pm. We reach our longest day on 21st June.
There was dew fall on the newly mown grass making it smell sweet, with sparkling diamond drops on leaves and plants.
The blackbird was in full song. He's been to the back door step already for his daily handful of sultanas, which he adores! As soon as I draw back the curtains in our back room he flies down on to the patio.
Tiger ignores him. Too old to chase him and too deaf to hear him either.
I had a cup of tea iin the summerhouse. sitting there enjoying the freshness all around, and the way the light shines through foliage, glinting off the dew.
My breathing space.......
